In the unlikely situation that Uttarakhandbook cancels a trek
We rarely cancel our treks, but in the unlikely event that we do so due to force majeure, natural disasters (such as heavy rain, snow, snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, or any other conditions that compromise safety), or unforeseen circumstances like political unrest, curfews, local riots, pandemics, lockdowns, government directives, or any other issues impacting group safety, Uttarakhandbook will provide a voucher for the full amount of your trek fee (excluding trek insurance). This Trek Voucher can be used for any of our treks within the next year.
In the rare event that Uttarakhandbook changes the schedule of a trek
There are times when circumstances beyond our control arise, as heavy snow or rain, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, or unexpected political unrest, curfews, local riots, pandemics, changes in permission rules, or government orders, which may prevent a trek from taking place.
In these cases, Uttarakhandbook will always strive to offer you an alternative trek. If the alternate trek costs less than your original trek, we will provide a voucher for the difference in trek fees. If it costs more, you will only need to pay the additional amount.
It's also possible that the alternative trek may not be your preferred choice. In such instances, Uttarakhandbook will issue a trek voucher for the trek fee (excluding the insurance amount), which can be redeemed for any of our treks within the next year.
If your trek is cancelled by Uttarakhandbook due to lack of fitness
We welcome registrations from trekkers who are committed to getting fit for the trek. We provide the fitness requirements for each trek well in advance, and these details are also available on our website.
However, there are instances when trekkers do not adequately prepare. Insufficient fitness not only poses a serious risk to your safety but can also detract from the experience of the entire team. As this is a group activity, adherence to common guidelines is expected.
If you are unable to meet the required fitness criteria for a trek, we may have to cancel your participation. In such cases, our standard cancellation policy will apply, even if you choose to withdraw due to lack of preparation or fitness.
To reschedule your trek for a later available date
Our rescheduling policy is designed with the understanding that trekkers may face last-minute emergencies. This policy allows you to postpone your trek in case of illness, canceled leave, or personal emergencies.
Here are the details of the rescheduling policy:
- For your first rescheduling, there is no fee if done 30 days prior to your trek date. If rescheduling occurs within 29 days of the trek, a 20% fee of the trek cost will apply. This fee is necessary as many trek expenses are incurred before your arrival at the base camp.
- For a second rescheduling, a 20% fee of the trek cost will apply, regardless of the trek date.
- Once you reschedule, no refunds or vouchers will be issued if you decide to cancel the trek.
- Rescheduling is not permitted if there are only 3 days left before the trek starts.
- If you reschedule to a trek with a lower cost, the difference will be issued as a voucher valid for one year, not as a refund.
- If the new trek costs more than what you initially paid, you must complete the payment through your dashboard within 24 hours to confirm the new trek.
Uttarakhandbook Trek Anytime Policy
Our Trek Anytime Policy: As trekkers, there may be instances when you need to abandon a trek midway. This could be due to illness, altitude sickness, or simply fatigue. Additionally, your Trek Leader may decide to send you back for safety or health reasons.
In such cases, we understand your disappointment. You are always welcome to return at a later date, repeat the same trek, and complete your adventure without any additional charges from Uttarakhandbook.
How to register for a repeat trek:
1. Register for a trek using the standard registration process, pay the full trek fee, and secure your spot.
2. After completing the trek, email your Experience Coordinator, who will process a full refund of your trek fee.
Note:
- If you reschedule or cancel your trek, our standard cancellation policy will apply.
- Change of trek group is dependent on the availability of seats in that group
- Trekkers utilizing the Repeat Trek Policy cannot reschedule or cancel their treks within 20 days of the trek. Doing so will void their Trek Again Policy, and they will not be eligible to repeat the trek under the Trek Anytime Policy.
- If you wish to cancel while using the Trek Anytime Policy, the standard cancellation policy will apply.
